  1. Shaft must be clean & free of any coatings, paint, or other nonconductive material.
  2. Motor end bell must be clean & free of any coatings, paint, or other nonconductive material where SGR will be mounted using conductive epoxy.
  3. Bearing Protection Ring (SGR) should not operate over keyway. NOTE: Bearing Protection Ring microfibers should not come in contact with the keyway during operation.
  4. Apply a thin layer of conductive epoxy to the clean area of the end bell according to package directions.
  5. Install the Bearing Protection Ring so that the aluminum ring is concentric around the shaft. Conductive MicroFibers™ must maintain uniform contact with conductive metal surface of the shaft. Hold ring in place until epoxy is firmly holding the ring.
  6. After installation, test for conductive path to ground using Ohm meter. One probe on metal frame of SGR and one probe on motor frame. NOTE: Motor must be grounded to common earth ground according to applicable standards.
CAUTION: SGR IS NOT A GROUND FAULT PROTECTION DEVICE.
  7. In occasions where Bearing Protection Ring is exposed to excessive debris, additional protection of the fibers may be necessary. Call technical support at 207-998-5140 or email tech support@est-aegis.com

  1. Shaft must be clean & free of any coatings, paint, or other
    nonconductive material.
  2. Motor end bell must be clean & free of any coatings, paint, or other nonconductive material where AEGIS SGR will be mounted using conductive epoxy. This is the discharge path to ground therefore metal to metal contact is essential.
  3. AEGIS SGR microfibers should not operate over keyway. If SGR will operate over a keyway, fill keyway with a fast-curing epoxy putty in the area of contact.
  4. Mix Circuitworks Conductive Epoxy #CW2400 according to package directions. Apply a layer of epoxy to the back side of the AEGIS SGR.
  5. Remove tape from one edge of SGR to install on shaft. Once on shaft, retape the ring together, ensure spacers are in position and push SGR back to end bell.
  6. Install AEGIS SGR so that the aluminum ring is concentric around the shaft. Conductive MicroFibersmust maintain uniform contact with conductive metal surface of the shaft. Hold ring in place until epoxy is firmly holding the ring. For quickest curing time, use a heat gun to heat epoxy to 150-250°F for 10 minutes then allow to cool.
  7. Once epoxy is cured, remove spacers and tape.
  9. In occasions where Bearing Protection Ring is exposed to excessive debris, additional protection of the fibers may be necessary. Call technical support at 207-998-5140 or email tech support@est-aegis.com
