Shaft Grounding Kits for Avtron Encoders and Tachometers

Motor shaft static grounding is a major problem for many customers--shaft currents caused by variable frequency drives can destroy motor bearings, and the bearings in hollow shaft encoders. Mounting an encoder on a motor can make it difficult to mount a shaft grounding brush, and conventional bronze or carbon brushes are a constant maintenance problem.

Avtron is pleased to introduce encoder shaft grounding kits for Thin-Line modular magnetic encoders. These encoder grounding kits feature the new SGR technology from Electro Static Technology. This conductive MicroFiber™ brush system is maintenance free, and effective at any RPM. A major motor manufacturer has performed testing and found it met the manufacturer's claim to hold shaft voltages to below 7 volts, even after extensive life cycle usage.

Graphic explaining how shaft grounding kit works with Avtron Encoders and tachometersThe M56, M67, and M85 THIN-LINE Modular Magnetic Encoders are Heavy-Mill Duty, and feature Avtron's Wide-Gap Technology to avoid rotor and sensor damage common to older style encoders.

This kit may be ordered separately for field installation/retrofits, or as an option to factory-built M56, M67, and M85 THIN-LINE encoders.
