AEGIS® Bearing Protection - Why Shaft Grounding?

 

Best Practices

  • Install one AEGIS® Bearing Protection Ring on either the drive end or the non-drive end.
  • The AEGIS® Ring should be installed internally if possible but may also be attached externally.
  • Use AEGIS® Colloidal Silver Shaft Coating (PN CS015) on shaft where fibers touch.

DC Motors over 10HP (7.5kW) - Operated on DC Inverter:

DC motor > 10HP with AEGIS®

  • Non-drive end: Bearing housting must be isolated with insulated sleeve or coating, or use ceramic or hybrid bearing.
  • Drive end: Install one AEGIS® Bearing Protection Ring.
  • The AEGIS® Ring should be installed internally if possible but may also be attached externally.
  • Colloidal Silver Shaft Coating PN CS015 is required for this type of application.
