Century Motor with AEGIS SGR

AEGIS SGR installed on a Century Motor

Century Electric Motors

Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) integrated with AC motors create destructive electrical voltages on the motor's shaft. Once these voltages exceed the resistance of the bearing lubricant, a discharge occurs through the bearings, causing fusion craters, severe pitting, fluting damage, excessive bearing noise, and ultimately premature bearing failure.

AEGIS® Shaft Grounding Rings (SGRs) provide protection against premature bearing failure resulting from VFD-generated voltage on a motor's shaft. These rings safely channel harmful induced shaft voltages away from the motor's bearings to ground through their conductive microfibers.

Century Electric Motors are available with factory-installed AEGIS Rings. If you plan on running your new Century motor on a VFD, be sure to request a factory-installed SGR.
