AEGIS® EV and EVO Rings

Shaft Grounding Rings for Electric Vehicles

EV motors are controlled by inverter drives to allow efficiency and precise speed and torque control. Unfortunately, these drives produce a stray voltage on the motor shaft, which can discharge through the motor bearings, causing electrical damage. AEGIS® Shaft Grounding Rings protect the motors by dissipating stray shaft voltage before it can arc through the bearings. AEGIS® EV Rings and EVO Rings are custom engineered to meet the unique challenges of automotive applications.

  • Protects bearings with low impedance for excellent stray voltage mitigation
  • Protects driveline components (e.g. transmission gear teeth)
  • Outstanding low-friction contact for high mechanical efficiency
  • Low wear rate and excellent long-term reliability
  • Compatible with peak shaft surface speed of at least 80 m/s
  • Optimized and standardized design for automated manufacturing
  • Customizable to the application
  • Low space requirements
  • Light weight construction
  • Pressfit assembly
